AI in Energy & Net-Zero Carbon Cities

The World Economic Forum aims to leverage AI for optimizing energy systems while addressing its energy consumption challenges through responsible governance. Its AI in Energy initiative focuses on balancing AI’s benefits with sustainability, while the Net Zero Carbon Cities (NZCC) initiative fosters public-private collaboration to decarbonize urban environments through energy efficiency, clean electrification, and resource circularity. Both initiatives align to accelerate sustainable energy transitions and urban resilience.

Our Mission

In 2025, with support from the Forum's global AI Energy Impact Initiative, C4IR Azerbaijan will spearhead the integration of AI-driven solutions into the energy sector by adapting global use cases into at least one local stakeholder pilot. This aligns with Azerbaijan’s national energy transition ambitions, leveraging C4IR Azerbaijan’s strategic partnerships, expertise in AI, and commitment to fostering innovation within the country’s energy landscape.

Why AI in Energy and Net-Zero Carbon Cities?

Cities are responsible for over 70% of global carbon emissions and consume 78% of energy. Transitioning to net-zero carbon cities is vital to combat climate change, improve public health through cleaner air, drive economic growth, enhance resilience to climate challenges, and foster global collaboration for a sustainable urban future.

Shared Goals & Efficiency

Both initiatives focus on urban sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction, making their integration a strategic move.

Optimized Resource Use

Merging efforts avoids redundancy, ensuring a streamlined, cost-effective approach.

AI-Powered Solutions

AI enhances energy monitoring, optimization, and predictive analysis, making sustainability efforts smarter and more effective.

Scalability & Global Impact

The best solutions will be showcased at COP29 and integrated into the World Economic Forum’s Solution Toolbox for global adoption.

Tangible Outcomes

The initiative moves beyond research by developing real-world use cases, hosting workshops, and implementing AI-driven urban solutions.
